The greenhouse at Overbrook Senior High School is again up and running thanks to the Environmental Science classes. As a result of the students’ hard work and many contributions of materials from the faculty, the greenhouse is now filled with vegetables, herbs, and flowers. The vegetables include cucumbers, tomatoes, green beans, and peas. Herbs are basil, parsley, and oregano. The flowers are zinnias, cosmos, hollyhocks, sunflowers and marigolds.
Students are presently preparing for their plant sale. The plant sale will be May 2nd through the 6th. The proceeds will enable the students to replenish the supplies and continue to work in the greenhouse.
We not only hope that you are able to take advantage of this sale, but we hope that you can assist us in the future. As you plant your spring flowers , instead of throwing away the flats and 4/6 packs, is it possible for you to bag them up and bring them to school? There will be a box at the high school in the mail room where they can be placed. If you are in another building, please contact Carol Faggiani.
As always, we appreciate all of your assistance with keeping the greenhouse a successful program.
